Compania aeriana irlandeza Ryanair, cel mai mare operator low-cost din Europa, a raportat o scadere de 85% a profitului inregistrat in primul trimestru, anunta TimesOnline. Compania a declarat ca profitul a scazut de la 139 de milioane de euro la 21 de milioane, cu toate ca numarul pasagerilor a crescut cu 19% ajungand la 15 milioane.
Oficiali ai companiei au declarat ca exista posibilitatea ca la finele anului operatorul low-cost sa raporteze pierderi de 60 de milioane de euro si au dat vina pe cresterea pretului petrolului care au crescut factura la combustibil cu aproape 100%.
Pentru a remedia situatia, compania a declarat ca va scadea cosiderabil preturile la bilete, facandu-le mai accesibile decat cele ale concurentei, pentru a-si mari numarul de clienti, informeaza TimesOnline.

Ryanair, unul din cei mai mari operatori low-cost din Europa, a anunţat joi că va anula, de la 31 iulie, toate cursele pe ruta Arad-Bergamo (Milano), în lipsa unui acord cu Consiliul Judeţean (CJ) Arad, despre care susţine că nu şi-ar fi respectat obligaţiile asumate.
"Lasand la o parte faptul ca acesta este un oras provincial inapoiat pe harta globala, am adus peste 10.000 de vizitatori aici si am creat 100 de locuri de munca, contribuind cu peste patru milioane de euro la economia locala. Regiunea si orasul vor suferi de pe urma anularii acestui serviciu, care reprezinta o oportunitate unica de a stimula economia si de a plasa orasul Arad in randul destinatiilor cerute in traficul aerian", a spus Michael Cawley, deputy chief manager al Ryanair

Passengers Deprived of Ryanair’s Low Fares at Arad Airport
(LOCAL COUNCIL FAILS TO HONOUR AGREEMENT)
Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (19 June) announced the cancellation of all flights to Arad Airport in Romania from the 31st July next, as a direct result of the failure of the County Council and its President, Mr. Iosif Matula to sign and honour its agreement with Ryanair. Ryanair started flying to Arad from Bergamo in Italy 3 times weekly in April 2008 and had intended to carry 50,000 passengers in the first year of operations to the Arad region. All plans for additional flights to Arad have now been cancelled and Ryanair will replace the Arad service with a 3 times weekly service from Bergamo to Berlin-Schönefeld.
Speaking today, Ryanair’s Daniel de Carvalho said:
“We were looking forward to carrying 50,000 passengers to and from Arad in our first year of operations. Ryanair’s unbeatable low fares have already created many jobs and generated substantial visitor spend in the Arad region. The failure of the County Council and its President to honour their commitment with Ryanair, leaves us with no choice but to cancel all flights and expansion plans for Arad airport.
“The lack of cooperation from the County Council and President is directly responsible for Arad County losing these flights and the enormous opportunity to link the region with the main cities around Europe. Based on the short lived success of the 3 flights per week which commended in April, Ryanair was considering expanding our services from Arad Airport. We deeply regret that the failure of the County Council and the President to honour the agreement made with Ryanair.”
